Creation & Inspiration

The Santo Domingo Pueblo Indians refer to shell used in necklaces as "heshi", which is what these spiny shell discs would normally be called if they used them in Southwest  Indian  jewelry. I chose to use them in combination with bronze beads from Niger in Africa to create a very different necklace that is ethnic in feeling but not specifically one culture. Casual but bold. -JB
